You exactly got it right. Content is a king but first you have to build your empire with SEO & Social Media Marketing to get it noticed. It’s not easy task to earn a good recurring income from your blog. Depending on the monetization model you are using your income depends on traffic,conversions and service you provide. Freelancing is also another great way to earn some quick bucks without any blog or traffic.

BTW Paul I just visited your site. I think it may just need a better design and if you want more of comments to follow to your site you will have to build some good relations with fellow bloggers. If the problem is with Traffic a good SEO and keyword selection will bring you that.

I think many bloggers who are new to blogging work randomly. It’s better to have a work plan for your website. So that if the plan is not working you can change it but if you are working randomly it’s not going to get you anywhere.

I see, you are right now in one of the phases many successful bloggers have gone through, even I have felt like that sometimes but I believe that if you want to achieve something really badly and you put all your efforts into that in the ‘Right Manner‘,yup in right manner mark that word you will succeed to achieve your goal.. As others have said there really does have to be a focus on quality of content to be put on the blog, otherwise you are simply publishing content in a different way, not necessarily a better way.

I still have a lot to do to make my own website better and improve the quality of my own content as I am not making anywhere near the amount of money I thought I would be making by now, so much so in fact that just today I felt like giving up on the site, but I am pleased to report that I feel like pushing on with it again and trying a few variations of what I have been attempting so far.

The other main area of selling your skills for hire on sites like Elance and Fiverr is probably the easiest way of making money online for those that can create true quality content likely to command a good price.

I have tried few things after panda/penguin to test the Algo like creating a good quality post and not building a single backlink to it.I got on the 1st page for some days but after few days the article was outranked by other less quality article. So I can say that Link building is still really important to bring in more authority to your blog.

Things which are working after Post Panda/Penguin are :

1. Guest Posting
2. Web 2.0
3. Social Bookmarking

But remember that everything you do should look natural and the anchor text should be variable.
